I'd advise you to take the K&N filter out then take it to the dealer. It's under warrenty and they should fix it. Good luck!!

K&N doesn't void warentee, so there shoud be no need to remove it, but I would just let ford deal with it. no sense messing with it yourself if it is under warentee

mike,
i agree with the others, warranty will take care of it====but you could try turning it off, by unhooking the neg post to battery, then turning on your headlights for 5 mins==then turn off headlights, and rehooking up your battery.===this clears your computer.(turning on headlight switch clears any residual power in your computer.)
then if your light comes back on--you really have a problem and should definately take it in.
best case is take it in anyway.
ford uses k&n filters in some of their autos too.

I know K&N won't void the warrenty. The point I'm trying to make is that if the check engine light traces to something like MAF sensor or something in relating to the airflow system, excluding exhaust, he'd have to pay for the repair, not only that, the truck's warrenty would possibly be voided. I use K&N too and love it but I guess I want to be on the safe side. Hope you guys understand what I'm talking about.

K&N doesn't void your warranty directly. However if the CEL is traced back to over oiling the filter then he will have to pay for the repair and possibly a new MAF. It's much easier to remove it than face the possible hassles.
