Hey guys,

This is probably a stupid question, but I just recently noticed that when I park my car in my garage (after about a 20 minite drive ) clicking noises were coming from the bottom of the truck. Is this normal? A friend at work said it was just the exhaust system cooling off. I never heard these noises before.

Also, I can't seem to find any Motorcraft air filters for my engine a V6 SOHC, what other brand would be good, other than K&N?

Thanks for the input

That ticking noise is the exhaust system shrinking back to its original size and most of it is coming from the converter because it is a catalyst. Granted when hot it does not expand much, maybe one mm. The ticking sound is just the metal cooling and it's very normal. A very new vehicle will do it more, after you get some more miles on it it will diminish.

As for the air filter, you probably can't find it because nobody has 2001 models in their computer systems. All explorers from 95-01 have the same air filter so you could get one for a 97 or 98 and it would be the same. Just make sure it's for an SOHC.

Welcome to the site....good luck.
