The other day I was driving back home from across the state. About half way back.......I was heading up a steep incline on part of the freeway, going between 3,000 rpm and 3,500 rpm, and about 3/4 the way up the hill, I had a **** load of white smoke or something coming out my back end! Luckily i made it all the way up the 6 mile incline to the rest stop. Anyway, the smoke/steam wasnt coming out of the tailpipe, it was hitting my exhaust and cat and burning off that way.

I got underneath my vehilce with a flashlight, and found that my entire undercarriage was covered in coolant.....but it also appeared to have oil or something mixed in with it too. The vehicle had been running fine. The oil was about a quart low....and the coolant was about 3/4 to a gallon low. Had no problems the whole way until this point. Anyway, it looked as though the coolant was leaking around the oil pan area, in between that and the transmission. SO I am at a loss and hope that you guys can help.

i would check the simple itmes like ...

hose's and clamps
water pump leaking out of the weep hole
blown coolant gasket anywhere on the engine ( like intake system, pump gasket etc ...
radiator leaking ( burst tank or hole in the core lines)
checking the oil for water ( may have had a head gasket blow out )

could be many things ........

Alright.....well i got underneath there and tried to figure out where the leaks were coming from. I wiped everything down that was wet or had oil on it and ran it.....got back underneath there and there appear to be a few leaks......leaking around the water pump gasket (which is a slow leak but there nonetheless), an oil leak in the u bend part on the oil pan under the harmonic balancer, a leak around some sending unit on the oil pan, and a coolant leak in between the oil pan and transmission where this spacer is. The fluid also appears to have a red tint to it as well.....like its a mixture of coolant and tranny fluid

Any ideas?????
