Came out this morning and saw a puddle under the Ex. It is a 1996 4.0 push rod. Found anti-freeze on driver side of the pump and behind pump on timing cover. Ruled out hoses, thermostat housing. Filled rad and overflow,(about 2 qts. down). Got it to operating temperature and looked. Everything was dry. After reading some posts on here, does this look like an intake gasket leak. I have also heard on Fords about timing cover gasket. I haven't looked in my manual yet but I don't know the relationship there, if there is one. Please chime in. Had this Ex about 8 months. It has not got hot.

Right now it's looking like a bad radiator cap. I will monitor for a week and post.

You can buy a coolant pressure tester, it pressurizes the cooling system with the car off and it also has a gauge on there. if there is a leak in the system the pressure on the gauge will decrease and the fluid will leak out and help pin point the location of the leak, and I believe that tool can be used to test the radiator cap as well. I bought one from cornwell tools, rather expensive 150 bucks, but i m sure there are some cheaper ones. Handy tool to have in my opinion.

sounds like a bad pump, if there's anti-freeze around the pump itself.

the pump has alittle bleeder on it, so it will cause the coolant to leak out if the pump stops working and the pressure gets too high.

Bleeder is not leaking. The coolant was on driver side top of pump, but mostly behind pump dripping down timing cover. While running, the pump was dry. I'm thinking it's a gasket. I have pictures, but I have to figure out how to resize them to post. Thanks for the input.

Update: After rechecking, it was the thermostat housing. Thanks for the help.
