Help...Explorer only drives in reverse.

ok i have a 94 explorer.for a while it wouldns shift to second without me runnin up the rpms then lettin off.now it only goes in reverse.i dropped the pan and found a chunk of metal that looks like half of a house.does anyone know what i could of broke and if it could be fixed?thanks for any help ou can provide

Mine doesn't go into drive either. I still haven't got any idea what it could be. When I took my pan off, I didn't find any metal in there at all. Was nice and clean. I am not sure where your metal piece came from. That sucks.
