my Explorer is a 1994 with a 120,000 on it and the motor was rebuilt at 95,000 i started it and and used it to go to school which is like 5 minutes away then in the afternoon i went to go home and it wouldn't start i mean it was dead wouldn't even turn over, so i tried jumping it but it didn't do anything i tried a new batter and that was a no go. But while doing this i found that when it was being jumped the power given through would cause the hazards to blink outside but not the signals on the dash and then at the same the backlit lights for the dashboard including the heat lights would flash with the hazards outside. Plus if you were by the fuse box in the engine you could here a click. Right know im lost on what to do i would like to be able to fix it myself cause as a student im tight on the cash to fix it. So if anyone has any words of advise i would appreciate it thank.

start checking for a blow fuse or relay either manually or with a test light. Thats my guess

You changed the battery but what about the cables? I would start with easy stuff. New battery cables are around $10 and easy to install. Have you checked all your fuses?

Does the starter click when trying to start her? Any more info would also be helpful.

Hi Jim,

If you're only hearing a click on the passenger fender then I'd guess your starter is on its way out... Try tapping (not bashing) it with a hammer to free it up.. When electrical motors get old and worn they start to stick/get hung up during start up... by tapping on the starter it will help loosen and free it up.

Thanks for all the replys im going to try taping the starter and i looked at the fuse by the engine and that seemed to be good except how do you know if the s square shaped relays (i think or fuses) and also i was woundering what would cause the hazerds and the dash board to blink, thanks
Jim

If the starter solenoid (located on the passenger fire wall clicks) then it will send power to the starter. There are 2 large post sticking out of the solenoid. The one toward the front is connected to the battery while the other post goes to the starter.. When you turn the key to start the solenoid connects the two posts together and sends power to the starter..

If you battery gets run down then any electrical device may not function correctly.

alright thanks for the help i got my truck to start unfortunitly idk if this is a better thing then the starter but what evers causing the trouble is my POS alarm/keyless entry that looks like it was stolen and put in by an person that doesn't hava clue what they where doing. know i just have to put a new one in or unhookit thanks
