Let me guess... you have a SOHC and you hear the rattle between 2000 and 3000 rpms under acceleration. Go to your dealer and have them do the cam chain and guide recalls. Also, check out my thread. I just went thru this with my dealer last month and it didn't turn out very good.

Good luck.

do it is a big problem? and should i get it fixed right away? and since it was recall items, do i pay anything?

i think its out of warranty now... or the recall on it may have ended

Do you have the SOHC? How many miles on your truck?

Also when was the manufacturing date? That's what really matters. I unfortunately was a couple months off. But did the 01M01 on my own for under $60. Not extremely easy. But it's worth the money if you have the time.

EB...

What was in the 01M01 kit? How long did it take you? Did you have the cam chain off?

yes, and 82K

You will most likely not be covered for 00M12 which is the tensioner but you will still be covered under 01M01 which is the guide. 00M12 doesnt take very long so it might be wise to have that done and if you still hear noises have them do 01M01 under warranty. Just bring it in and don't mention anything about being out of warranty for the first one. Just see what they say. I was just out of warranty and they still covered mine so you never know.

Sorry to get your hopes up, but I meant to say 00M12. That took quite a bit of time, I don't remember how long exactly. Maybe about 5 hours of actual working. That was just the intake gaskets, chain tensioner, galley plug and such. But I still have a rattle so I'm going to take it in to get the 01M01 done. My time runs out for that in November.

will i still have a warranty if i bought the X used? i know the warranty fromt he place i bought it is out, but i thought theyd cover recall stuff....

Recall stuff is still covered, but the 00M12 runs out at 6 yrs or 72k and 01M01 runs out at 7 yrs or 100k

So i can still get the 01M01 now for free? eventhough i bought it used..

Yes, but I believe you need to have 00M12 done before 01M01. You might have to pay to get 00M12 done, but bring it in and see what they say. Don't mention anything about not being covered. You never know how nice the person is helping you or who might not realize or know that you shouldnt be covered. You paid enough for the truck, let Ford pay to fix it.
