2000 Explorer XLT
Okay so i bought a 1991 explorer last winter for a winter vehicle, it was $900, the 4x4 doesnt work, it has rust, leaking power steering, a noisy lifter, and the transmission is going. couple places here quoted me $2000 just to fix it, i could probably pick up a used one for cheap but who knows if it has the same problems i have with it. so this opportunity came up, a buddy is selling a 2000 explorer, 4dr, 4x4 actually works, xlt, no to minimal rust (maybe a bit on the front fender) interior is good, engine sounds good, so this is $4000, and you gotta remember im in canada, so **** isnt as cheap as they are in the states. I'm wondering if i should pick this one up, because im sure it'll run for time to come, plus there are more aftermarket parts available for the 2000's. so let me know your thoughts.

I'd buy the newer one before sinking $2k into the old one. It's really $2,900 vs. $4,000... For $1,100 you get a much nicer 9 year newer vehicle.

Yeah, you will sink almost 2k into the 91 just for the trans. Dump it.

91 doesnt sound worth it. you well spend at leat 2k gettin it workin, and more stuff will probly come up soon if its in that bad of shape.
