I have to replace my water pump and timing cover on my explorer. It has the 5.0 V8. I noticed that upon removal of the timing cover, it will likely destroy the front of my oil pan gasket. I need to know if the engine has to be lifted in order to change the oil pan gasket, or can it be done without lifting the engine. Please lend me some advise on the best way to go about it, as I will be doing the job myself, and don't really like unbolting and pulling engines without another person close by (I'm a safety junkie, lol).
