Ok well here it is, bare with me while i explain everything, i really need the help..
So about a year ago my ex started to skip around 65-70mph....but nothing would occur in the city or lower speeds. The problem got worse and it would "skip" all the time. When i start it up in the morning, it would idle rough and eventually smooth out. If i started to drive it before letting it warm up for approx. ten minutes, it wud buck down the road like a wounded deer running away ( lol). So i brought it to a new mechanic which i am now regretting. Heres what he did... new upper intake gasket, all new plugs and wires, coil pack....the problem went away for a few days and then it came back....the new CEL that came on and stated there was a misfire in cyl 4, ( not sure the exact code, but thats what i was told) so he changed the injector in cyl number 4 and it solved the problem for yet a few more days. so finally i realized i can solve the problem by changing the spark plug in cyl 4, with an autolite 103. The next thing i noticed is that my coolant container was bone dry. so i filled it up and changed the plug and it was good for a few days, now the winter was over and the warmer weather was here, all summer the problem only came back once and my coolant levels were good...cold weather got here and here we go again. rough idle at start, bucking, so i changed the plug in cyl 4 and it runs smooth. it seems to me that something is fouling the spark pug in cyl 4. After spending numerous hours on this forum i only have one suggestion, i believe it is the lower intake gasket which is probably junk by now, that it is letting small amounts of coolant into the cylinder and when it lets to much to be burned off, it fouls the plug causing the ex to run rough. the plugs when i take them look a lil "white" on the end and they have a mild odor of antifreeze.
has anyone had this problem. only the upper intake was changed and not the lower back when the mechanic had it. whenever i change the plug it runs fine from anywhere from 2 weeks to a few months .....i have to change it more often in the winter and colder weather. but regardless this problem has cost be over a thousand dollars and multiple headaches and i want to solve it.....anymore info that you think will help i can try my best im not a gear head but i know a bit.
thanks guys

Hmmm....

Hi!

Sounds like a weird situation you're in...

Is cylinder #5 ok? If there is a small amount of coolant fouling #5's plug (not enough to trip a code), I'd suspect a head gasket. Is there any coolant on the side of the block?

Three things don't occur which cause a misfire (maybe you know this):

1) No spark. Sounds like you have that taken care of with new plugs, wires, and a coil pack.

2) Improper Air/Fuel Mixture. A new injector might have solved that problem. If you're not misfiring on any other cylinders, fuel problems are unlikely. Maybe check you fuel pressure?

3) No/Low Compression. This is where the head gasket comes to mind when you found coolant on your sparkplug. I suspect when the gasket is warm, it expands and allows compression. When it's cold (i.e., winter time, etc.), it shrinks, not allowing for proper compression. Can you perform a compression test? Ideally, compression should be around 150psi (is this right?).

What does everyone else think?

i got the same problem

I do think my problem lies in cylandar 6, but the exact same thing is happening to me. Throws on my check engine light,. What do I do? Is it going to ruin my engine should I continue driving it? It literally runs goofy for a while, and then seems to run fine.
