2002 EB 4x4, auto, 4 dr. 4.0, 84k has a jerking or pulsing sensation @ highway speeds after applying the brakes and continues until stopped. A mechanic was certain that it was the front carrier, replaced it w/ no change.
I think that I have the ABS unplugged but am not sure.
This started after I had 2 new tires mounted on the rear.
The jerking or pulsing is at about 100 beats per minute.
Any suggestions?

does she have Stability Control??

are the new tires within 1/4 inch diameter of the front ones?? some vehicles must be within that for the systems to work properly.

why is the ABS unplugged??

Does not have stability control. I unplugged the ABS to see if the jerking stopped. It didn't. Will check the diameter of the old & new tires.
Thanks for the help.

did you unplug the correct fuses?? my diagram shows 2 fuses: F1.5 40amp and F1.10 20Amp for Battery power at the ABS module, which did you unplug?? Both are in underhood fuse box.

surprised nobody else jumped on this yet......

Are you sure its just not her looking for alittle road fun? :D hhaha hope you figure out your problem

Sounds like your rotors are warped.

Possible sticking caliper getting the rotor hot and warping..Just a guess.
The other thing is the tire diameter or circ...All four tires need to be the same..When you hit the brakes on the highway the TC unlocks,,,just a thought.

Ever change the transfer case fluid?

My 99 Navigator was doing that, T Case fluid was never changed and when I bought it, the thing was stuck in 4WD so I got a REAL good deal on it, took it home and changed the Xfer case fluid a few times and it was fine.

I have on 03 Explorer with same problem, changed rotors, still same problem, help

Fuel delivery?

I'm not a tech of any sort, but how about fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, etc? Are they all clean? Is it possible for a cut off in fuel supply to cause this issue?

i had the jerking too. i just changed my rotors and pads and bleed the breaks till i was certain there was no air in the lines.. the jerking stopped and im back to smooth braking :)

I agree - especially since its an EB. After reading about changing only two tires, it very well could be the automatic 4X4 trying to kick in. If the tires aren't EXACTLY the same, the transmission will kill itself kicking in and out. This is also very damaging to the entire system.
