Help kill the whistle sound..please!!

Hey, will the new IAC Valve smooth out the idle any?

I'm getting ready to do a major overhaul on my engine, we're approaching 100,000 miles so I'm going to do plugs, wires, all filters, K&N Air Filter, etc.

Yeah, my idle got better after I replaced the IAC. when coming down from high RPM's it used to pulse like a heartbeat almost. That's pretty much gone. Oh if your car is idleing weird you can check your PCV valve while you're doing your overhaul. Shake it, and if it doesn't rattle, you need a new one. Very easy to replace usually.

Xplor: Yup, ever since, I installed the KKM filter. I here a hissing noise on acceleration

Hissing might be a vacum leak or something else. Did you make sure you re-attached everything securely after the install? Try and locate the hissing under the hood with the engine running, I guess.

okay...i did the cleaning operation this morning, the noise is much quieter, but still there. i think i will go ahead and order one up from torrie and be done with the whole thing. thanks, jwild et al.

jwild4x4, yeah, i make sure everything was secure. Late models EX does have any vacum lines on the factory air box. Does yours have it? Basicly, I just pulled out the whole air box and and took the MASS sensor attached it with the adapter from the KKM and used the brace to hold it steadily.

No, any line were located "downstream" from my filter box. I just had to unplug the electrical connection to my MAF sensor and reconnect afterwords. Anyhow, there are vacum lines everwhere in the engine compartment. I did some searching of the site, and some people suggest spraying carb cleaner or water on all the vacum lines, and if you notice a slight decrease in RPM's when you hit a certain spot, chances are there's a leak there... I'm sorry I can't help more with the hissing.
And for everyone else, I'm glad I could help... good luck all!

Jason
