:fire: I just got my Explorer 2 weeks ago and it has already earned the nickname the "sponge." It seems to be leaking from the sun/moon roof with water dripping from the center headliner controls and large amounts (I mean LARGE AMOUNTS) dripping into the floor board from where the cloth headliner joins the plastic that frames the windshield and meets the dash. I took it in a couple of days ago and they assured me it was fixed after they blew the drainage hoses out. Well its not, I have standing water in my drivers side floor board today. Can anybody help???? This is my first Ford, I really liked it before it became a swimming pool!

Well, obviously you need to get that X back to the dealership to get it fixed right!
Have you opened the roof since your visit to the dealer? My first question would be ...are you closing it properly? It can sure look closed, but not be. You have to be extra careful to make sure it closes. The latch mechanism follows that track, you can watch the rollers move up, then down. The window should stop as the rollers get to the bottom of the "roller coaster" track. Watch is closely, try it a few times to make sure. I know it took me several times to figure out how it works. It wasn't like I thought it was!!!
I hope you can find a solution quickly...all that water sure isn't good for you or the vehicle. Good luck, let us know how it's going.

Thanks for your response Ken. Yes, the roof is being closed properly and that was the first reaction at the dealership that it was operator error. Since we've moved past that hurdle they still are not able to locate the leak but are making a reasonable effort to find it. It did help a little when they blew the drainage tubes out but not enough to get excited about. After the fact, they realized it had 4 and they only blew the 2 front ones out. I did point it out that when they blew the drivers side out the water came out half way up the door, I'm not sure this is normal since it didn't do that on the other side and it's the drivers side with the problem. There is also surface rust started under the dash especially in the parking brake area which leads me to believe the leak is higher up.... maybe the windshield. I'm a little more familiar with cars than your average female being raised around race/ funny cars and my dads garage, I hate to say it but that has made a difference in how my situation has been handled. They are taking it seriously now so maybe soon it will be resolved. Thanks again Ken!!

Sorry I wasn't of much help for you. Besides the drain tubes, I just couldn't think of anything either.
I was hoping that maybe you have an update for us? Are they still working on it? How long/mileage did your explorer have before this started to happen? I sure hate these type problems...enough to pull your hair out, huh?
Good luck, please keep us informed.
Ken

High And Dry

:) :) :) I Took It Back 9-18 And They Blew The Back Tubes Out. One Was Totally Blocked. I've Had Rain Since And So Far No Water Inside! :d For Once It Seems Nice To Be Left High And Dry!!!! Thanks Ken!

2002 explorer leaking at discharge leaving water in drivers side floor. I guess that the line has come loose at the discharge nipple. How do you access it to fix?

It's a piece of cake. Just remove the 2 screws holding the visor on. The pillar trim just snaps off. Pull the headliner down and you should be able to see in there. I didn't need to remove the weatherstripping. I've only done the passenger side which meant the handle had to be removed. I don't think the driver's side needs more than the visor and pillar piece removed. In my case the tube was disconnected so I cleaned the fitting the hose goes to and the inside of the hose with alcohol and used superglue when I put it back on. It is only a half hour or so job.
Also there are drains in each corner so if you have one of the rear ones that are the culprit you'll have to remove a couple of more things but that's it. Just do it, you'll be surprised how easy it is.

It might just be plugged. Run a wire or skinny plastic tube down the front drain on that side. You could also try compressed air. You tube has videos. I think it drains out the front of the doorjamb. Blow air through both ends.
