Went to lunch with the wife today. All of a sudden started hearing a loud clicking that had a definite ring to it (like someone hitting a steel tube with mallet) when moving. Noise i in final drive line, as it's only ground speed related, regardless of engine speed or transmisssion gear. Jacked up the front end, grabbed the drive shart from the front diff to the Tx case and twisted. Sounds like something in the case. Anyone got any ideas?

Front Driveshaft

Its prolly your front drive shaft. Its where the shaft goes into the CV ball bearing joint.
Here is a picture of the part you need (if this is whats wrong).

Your cheapest bet is to go to a salvage yard and take one off of a wrecked Explorer. You can also buy one new but that would be really expensive. If you have the proper tools you can do all the labor yourself. Its really not that hard to remove. Hope this helps.
