Parking and interior lights still work - but low and high beams are out.

However, holding the turn signal stalk back (for flash to pass) makes the high beams come on.

Am I looking at a bad multifunction switch or headlight switch (or something else)? Does the flash-to-pass feature bypass the headlamp switch? Thanks all, 98 XLT.

That's a pretty common failure for the multifunction switch. Replace it and you should be good to go.

absolutley combo switch, (multifunction)....

Surgery was performed today. Replaced multifunction switch and to my surprise, lights still did not work. A new headlight switch did the trick.

Thanks for the responses.

I'm very sorry that I steered you wrong there.

No problem! I plan on keeping this vehicle forever and I know that multifunction switch fails often anyway.
