I got the back nut off the front driver strut, but the bolt is stuck in the control arm and strut. Air hammer is no help. 3lb sledge isn't quite doing the trick. Do I need to remove the whole control arm with strut and take it to a shop to be pressed out? I can't imagine a bigger PITA.

I've searched this forum, and found lots of other people having the same issue, but all the posts were inconclusive. The origininal poster never wrote back to mention what finally did the trick for them.

For anyone else having trouble with this, I finally got my strut off. I used a pack ($12.99 from ACE) of 5 Milwakee Sawzall blades (24TPI) to cut through the bolt TWICE! I had to cut on each side of the strut. On the front of the vehicle, I had to cut from underneath the control arm. For the rear side of the strut, I found it much more comfortable to cut from above. I'd guess this process took me about an hour. I'd already invested countless hours on this single bolt. So, this actually gave me some therapeutic relief to cut-up that mother-!*#$#. :D

i recently had the same problem , had to use sawsall to cut the bolt off and replace with a new bolt and nut 30 bux
