Hello all. I've just joined this forum a few days ago.

I bought a 97 explorer xlt awd about 9 months ago from the private owner.

Right from the beginning my driver side lock gave a problem. It's busted now
and I have to use another door to get in my car. Here in Vegas, the weather started hitting 100 every day and I just found out my A/C is not working.

Well, I can live with all of above, but I got another problem now.

When I start the car, the AB signal stays on, and no lights working; no head lamps, no turn signals, no dash board light, etc. The car drives ok but I can't drive at night like that, and I have to hand signal when I drive day time.

If I try to start a few times it comes back to normal eventually, but I have to do that every time.

I've just lost my job this week. I need to get a job fast but my car is acting up on me. I can't afford a big repair cost.

Any idea why my electrical problems are happening?

I really thank for any advice.

Have a nice day all.

I have seen the no electrical equipment symptoms before on saabs being the ingnition switch worn out. Maybe worth dropping the cowling and checking all the connections to it. If you have time next time you go to start it and it does this then drop the cowel and do some wiggling of wires and connectors and see if all pops back on. It could also be a bad earth for the console.
As to the AB light, air bag?? If so i read a recent thread a couple of days ago refering to a connector under one of the seats to clean up that may sort that.
Edit; found the thread i read here http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282593
As to the door do a search and check the sticky's as there is plenty on that.
Good luck with the repairs and the job hunting
