did you check the clutch coil resistance to make sure there isn't an open, or to high of a resistance?

no, how do i go about doing that?

Make sure the clutch has a good ground. If it does then,
with the engine running, AC on, tap the clutch shoe plate with a hammer handle or screwdriver handle. If the clutch engages remove a shim to get the clutch to .016-.025" gap. Please be very careful around the running engine watch out for fan blades and belts.

is this something that can be replaced? or do i need to buy a new compressor?

That is quite common. You might check at autozone or another parts house for a reman clutch. You'll need a shim assortment and a new bolt.

anything else?
can this be replaced with the compressor on the vehicle?

if i buy he kit that is the motorcraft part like pictured above, do i need the shims?

Yes on the shim pack and clutch. You'll need to call or email rockauto and ask if it comes with shims. If it does you don't need the shim pack. It can be changed on the vehicle. It comes with instructions.

thanks for the help , looks like the local parts stores have it for a few bucks cheeper, ill call tomorrow and see what it includes and if their warranty s worth a hoot

is it just pop off the belt, and un bolt and bolt the new on? straight fwd and self explanitory? or are there any tips or tricks along the way ?

i appreaciate the help thus far, many thanks :)

Thank you Sir, hope all goes well, i hope it comes apart easy and works good when done
