Have a 97 explorer sport. Have a few leaks going on.
First is off my front differential. Replaced the drive axle a while ago and outer seal but cant quite figure out why oils coming from the inside now. Heres a pics and blue represents where oils coming from and the trail it's leading going to the bottom of the housing.Coming out of the passenger side.

Next is my transfer case. You can see the oil. Tried to tighten the bolt but didnt seem to lose. What could this be from? Should I put oil in there or anything?

Well, from the pix you have 2 more leaks that need fixing. The differential leak is from the pinion seal, and the xfer case leak looks like it's coming from the output shaft seal. The pinion seal is the more difficult job.

T-Case Sensor

I have had that sensor leak before. Some blue RTV stopped it. And if you replace the output shaft seal (30mm socket is used), remember you will need a new seal for the companion flange nut as well.

For that how should i put the rtv? I actually have some sitting on my desk.

I think the pic may be confusing. That's coming out of the right side of the differential(passenger side). Its not the driveshaft.

If you pull the sensor, look closely and you will see where it's seal is. It is a square cut seal of some type, and was not included in my seal kit. I tried replacing it with an O-ring that was lying around, and the tolerances are just so close, the O-ring would not allow me to re-install the sensor. I just cleaned everything, put the old seal back in, and put a thin film of RTV around the cylindrical part of the sensor.

PS: Also check your vent tubes, too make sure they are clear. And from the looks of the drip in the T-Case photo, you will want to change your fluid as well.

As for your other leak, I am guessing that you possibly have a damaged housing.

i was just thinking. Could it be that my new drive axle is not properly locked in and sealed? It was the first time I had ever done it when I replaced it.
But for the tcase sensor, do I need to replace to seal or can I just use the RTV to cover it for now?
