I have a 2005 Ford Explorer that recently got new tires and brakes from Firestone...never again btw. Anyway, about a month after the work I noticed a squeaking sound (sounds like my dogs chew toy) coming from the right front end of the truck. It's noticeable when coming to a stop and REALLY noticeable when going over any speed bumps.

Any ideas as to what could be the problem? Firestone couldn't re-create the problem because I took it back on a rainy day and I didn't hear it that day either until I got back home of course!

Please help!!

Thanks!

sway bar bushings sound dry, try spraying them with WD40. If it fixes it, then they are dried up, replace them with new ones, some even have grease fittings on the replacements. Some have had luck getting grease in there . . .

Yup, sway bar bushings are the far most likley culprit. Annoying, but easy and not damaging in any way. I just hit mine with a shot of WD-40 at each oil change - takes about 20 seconds 2x/year to fix. If it was any worse I would replace the bushings, but it's not.

Does it squeak when you turn? If so it could be the ball joints. Mine was making nasty squeaks over bumps and on turns, turned out i just needed to re-grease the ball joints.....I just saw you said it didn't make the sounds on a rainy day, so it is probably is a bushing or sway bar end links needing greased like others said.

It's the sway bar bushings. Mine did it until I replaced them with moog bushings and have not had a problem since! I tried to spray them and it would quiet them for a little while. Just replace them and be done with it.

Ditto. They are fairly cheap and simple to replace, you don't even need to remove your sway bar.

I cut down the squeaking on the Wife's 2001 Explorer Sport and firmed up the ride by replacing the sway bar links and the shocks. The sway bar link was less than $20 at every parts store in town. I will try the other ideas to see if I can kill the rest of it
