03' Explorer Sport
Hello everyone,

Here is my dilemma...... I have an 03 explorer sport and awhile ago my airbag light started flashing every now and then and now it is on permanently. Also my cruise control used to not always work but sometimes it would and now it doesn't work at all.
These two issues seem to be related as they were happening around the same time. I called the ford dealership near my house and they said there was no recall for my vehicle. I'm not sure if that is true or not because they wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars to just look at it for me. So any advice would be very very appreciated.

Thanks!

When you start it up count how many times the light flashes, this will give you the code. It could be clockspring which would affect both problems.

I've heard the term clockspring before but I don't really know what that is. Also when I start the car the light no longer flashes, I guess it's just gotten lazy and just comes on and stays on now.

Ok so yeah it does blink. 3 times then 4 times and it does that pattern over and over for awhile before staying lit.

Code 34 is passenger side pretensioner circuit fault.

.........and you wooooooooooooooold, check the plug under the seat.;)

Yes, it actually runs to the seat belt buckle.

Ok I checked the plug and sure enough it was lose so I pushed it in. My cruise control still doesn't work but now at least the light will flash when I press the on button.

Also I seem to be getting a new code:

23 Safing Sensor Input Feed/Return Circuit Open

I have no idea what that is.....

OK, hold on. You're confusing me ........not hard to do I assure you!:D
You checked the plug, that's the one under the seat, right? It was loose and you pushed it in. That should have fixed ONLY the original 34 code, nothing to do with the cruise.

My cruise control still doesn't work but now at least the light will flash when I press the on button.

Then in this case the fault seems to be intermittant but is most likely the switch on the master cylinder.

Neither do I since there is no Code 23 or 32 associated with a 2003 Explorer Sport. Check the flashes again.

Agh! It doesn't come on all the time. lol
