1993 ford explorer xlt
Hello fellow ford owners out there...I am seeking advice concerning my 1993 ford explorer...i recently drove it out of town...a three hour trip and noticed a few problems on the way. first thing i noticed when i drive it over 45 it acts like it is starving for gas...i can have the peddle all the way to the floor and still acts like it is starving for gas...honestly i really dont know how i made it home...most highways range from 55 65 and 70 and even with the gas all the way to the floor...still very little excelleration...does anyone out there have any ideas for me on what it could be...i took it to Autozone but they said they could not check it...because it is a 1993 model...i have also noticed the check engine light is now staying on. thanks all and God Bless.........

Maybe you could possibly have a clogged cat or muffler, or none at all, causing no back pressure, but I really dont think it would cause that type of issue.

Could it possibly be a bad fuel pump?

You need to pull the codes... Stay away from that Autozone, they're idiots. Check the link in my signature, you can pull your codes the same way. You will be counting the check engine light flashes...

Here is a link also with some pics:
