Help please!!! I have a problem. There's a very loud "woooooooo" noise under the hood today when I started the truck today. The sound comes from behind the grill/radiator, somewhere around there. The temperature here is pretty warm, upper 80's (YES!!!!!!). Anyone has this problem????? What should I do??

I don't know, possibly a water pump going bad? Any leaking from the water pump?

No leaks, well, other than the leak from the heater control valve.

Sorry, the only moving part that could make a wooooo sound, and has to do with the cooling of the vehicle would be the water pump. Anyone else?

could be the IAC (idle air controller) ...has happened to me twice now. Does it go away when you gas it? Maybe you could try cleaning the butterfly valve and the throttle body? Just a couple of thoughts.

This wooing sound goes away after I gas it enough, but that's not the one I'm talking about. This only happens when it's hot. The hissing noise, yeah, it goes away when I gas it, but not this wooing noise. Thanks for the suggestions!!

Check you fan clutch. I'd pull the drive belt off and start it up. IF the noise is gone then it's definitely one of the items driven off the belt. Good luck.

I have a new 'wooo' noise also. It might have been there for a long time and I just haven't noticed it. I can only hear it with the windows down and this is the first time it's been warm enough to put them down in a while. I believe it is the air being sucked through the holes I drilled in the airbox. I cannot tell exactly where it is coming from (not loud enough over the engine noise), only that it is from the front of the engine.

I get a wooo noise and my air intake tube vibratesd. has anyone else noticed the tube vibration associated with the sound? Thanks!

Yeah, the wooing sound (sounds like blowing over a beer bottle) which gets very loud when idling... And it comes from the intake. 9 out of 10 times it is a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. Buy a new one and replace it yourself and save the money on labor. Two bolts secure it to the intake manifold. Search the site for IAC and you'll find plenty of info on replacing it..
