New here, well kind of. I used to be here with a 99 ford explore XLT but had to sell for the old mini van. Now I have a manual 03 sport trac. So since I have had this new to me truck the last couple years I have been lurking around.
So my question is about towing. After camping with the family, I finally broke down and bought a nice (but older) pop up camper. I looked around and found one we liked, a Coleman Bayside Elite. It is a nice size camper for my family of 5. So I researched them a little and looked up towing for the sport trac and made the purchase. We drove it home 2 hours and it swayed a bit like I read that it would, and other than that and it squatting the back a tad bit everything went well.
Well today I started looking online a little more and I found that my truck is not rated for what I thought it was due to it being manual, and the camper is a bit heavier than I found on line earlier. Now I am a little bit nervous that I bought a camper that I shouldnt or cant pull with my sport trac. What I found was that the auto sport trac can pull 5000+, where the manual can only tow just under 2500? The camper tag on the side says that it is GVWR at 3250 and GAWR at 2950.
I am afraid that I just made a freaking huge mistake!!! If so this is by far the most stupid and unbelievably expensive blunder in my life. I feel so dumb not researching this a little more before I got it.
Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
