I jacked up my this thingy on my column when I was pulling my dash off.

It looks cracked, but I can't figure out how a new plastic piece would go back in.

It's not a crucial part...unless I want my ignition to work.

I see both pics and i really dont have a clue what that is.

it's whatever moves on top of the steering column when you turn the key. I don't know the name of the part, but it plugs into a harness and there is a piece inside that slides back and forth from turning the key to hit different contacts. It must have gotten pulled and the plastic part snapped in half.

It looks doubtful to be repaired, but I was curious

That's the ignition switch

it's a one piece deal i just bought one recently for my '91 there like 20.00

just make sure you tell em you want the electrical part of the ignition switch
so they don't try to sell you another lock cylinder.

Looking at rock auto, they got 2 different Motorcraft ones, one seems to have a wire retainer while the other one doesn't... IDK if there are any other differences...

They have good customer service you could call them and ask....I'm not related to them or anything, just buy from them all the time and am satisfied.

My original switch did have the wire retainer but the new switch i got did have it but i did not install it and have'nt any issues with it.

yeah, I got a new one today for $25 from the dealer. Funny thing is I had no idea that I broke it in half, and there was no way to repair that one. I just saw that with a bunch of other harnesses hanging from the fire wall and when I turned the key the inside part spit out.

Good news, truck went to the FAB shop today after the repair!
