Help! Should I sell my explorer whole,part it out, or fix it?

Sigh, I have a huge dilema here, my 91 XLT has almost gone through another transmission, overdrive has died and I'm guessing the other gears are not far behind. With four kids now I broke down and bought a Suburban this week. The question now is what to do with my beloved Explorer. She's served me well, still running strong at 228,000 miles. Body is still in great shape, no rust. Do I keep her and save the money for yet another transmission or do I sell her, if so what's a fair price? Would I be better off parting her out? I just don't know, it's been the best vehicle I've ever owned, I just don't know if she's too tired to put more $ into. Gimme some opinions guys!

Here's exactly what I have...
1991 XLT Forest Green
Tan Cloth interior with bench front seat
Aftermarket 3rd seat
Warn Hubs
Auto-Start/Locks
4x4 works great, although actuator motor needs a rebuild I think.
228,000 miles (I've put on 120,00 of them)
3rd Transmission, still works but overdrive sprague (sp?) went out.
Stock everything else

I say you keep her,are you having the tranny rebuilt at the same shop.Sounds like a pretty nice truck.You would be lucky to get 2000 grand for her in her current state

Last rebuild ran me $1800 and lasted 48,000 miles, so I was thinking maybe a used one, or maybe see if Aamco has a lifetime warranty one for a little extra $.

I was gonna sak $1500 obo as is and see if anyone wanted it. Too much or too little?

If I were you ide' sell it and buy a 94 XLT... You can get those for cheap, and it's the same body style. Good Luck.

sell it, ask $2000 see if you get it be real upfront with people that look at it. "it needs this and this, but this and this is great" Put the money you make into the burb you just bought, once you get some money get back into the x.
