I just recently installed a set of 265-75-r16's on my truck, and noticed that the truck is sluggish and the shifting is off. I know these problems were going to happen, my question is which would be my next modifications?

I was planning to reprogram the computer by upgrading the program from bama chips, here is my dilemma;

should I rework my gears first? if so which would be a better choice 4.10's or 4.56's?

Or is the program upgrade good enough?

and help or suggestions from anyone that has done this before is much appreciated.

I would run 4.10s.. If you plan on not going above 32s then stick with it.. If you might go larger then go 4.56..

What gears do you have? Check the door for the door code.

if its 2wd, you can also get 4.30 gears

hmmm...

It's curently an 97 XL with stock 3.73's 4x4

so it might be better to get a 4.10 from a wrecker then?

If 32's is the largest you plan on going, then 4.10s from a wrecked explorer would be the easiest, make sure to get both front and rear. If you plan on going larger down the road, just go ahead and get 4.56's, it'll save you in the long run.
