A very common question but I did do a long site search:

My 94’s factory radio‘s cassette player crapped out
As a fast and dirty fix, I was thinking about a FM CD Changer – (a wired thought the antenna “jobber”) Installation is no problemo. I have put in many radios over the years and a FM Changer in my daughter’s car a while back with great results

1. Anyone care to through out the names of some good makes and models that are not too expensive?

2. What do the troops think about buying a Factory Refurb. I’ve seen some low end Sony refurb for +- $100

My needs are simple ….. 6 disk would be plenty …. MP3 player?…NA! I’m not that fancy. We are not talking “a Carnegie Hall Sound System” here..... hahaha.... but decent.
BUT skipping over every bump would drive me nuts.
(I did think of mounting the box on a spring arrangement to soften the shock ..but later on that)

Any thoughts, suggestion or combat stories would be helpful and appreciated
Thanks

well i dont knowa bout the CD changers but ill get u some links from some cheap bloupunkts they are prety good for being cheap but not something ud want if u were going to amp anything off of them but ill get u some ideas

What are they? a full dash replacement....multi CDs?

o they are just a new HU they are 1din so ud have to use the half din tray...i dont know anything about multi cd anything i just use 1cd and change it lol or i use a minidisk player atatched to it

I WOULD NOT go with refurbed equipment. Pioneer or Sony make decent HU's, for a moderate price and good performance. That goes for the changer as well. I had a Pioneer in my Xlt (it got stolen, miss it!), and then got a JVC, trust me, the Pioneer was much better! I've encountered more skipping with the JVC over the slightest bumps than with the Pioneer. Most radios are regular din replacement's with just the cage to hold it in place after you remove the factory radio. I don't think you could fit a 6 disc changer in the dash. Maybe the rear cargo area or the arm rest for an external changer would be good.

Thanks
I was pointing to a JVC or Sony...the refurbs? you are probably right.......it may not be worth the hassle.

If its factory refurbished it is probibly just as good. MAKE SURE it is if you decide to purchace a refurbished one.
