Is this the amp I need? Newb to the audio stuff.

It'l work, i just found the cheapest 4 gauge wire kit i could find, bought two, one for power, one for ground. Wire is wire..

The amp power kit I have uses 8 gauge for both power and ground. What is good gauge wire? 4-6?

for that sub you'l be fine with 8 gauge. Don't go crazy on a $20 speaker

plus if you already have the kit don't bother upgrading until you've tried it

Also, the Best advice i was ever given, you will get the best sound out of a speaker if you match the amplifier with the power handling of that speaker. So don't go crazy on an amp.

Judging by the amp they provided in the regular package, probably 160-200rms... its hard to say when they dont mention the rms rating for that sub. The fusion amp with that is 180rms, but its probably over-rated.

I see that your EXP is an XLT. So I was wondering does it have the factory JBL system. (Unsure if it was offered in the XLT package) If it does you could possibly use the SUB amp. I did this for a while until I did a full sound system upgrade and was quite suprised at its output.

True, definitely need to watch out for those kits.

I often considered just getting welding wire for the fact, however settled with stinger 4 gauge wire kits.

Never really heard that before, but after inspecting some cheap eBay kits I bought in the past, that is definately true

welding wire works perfectly fine...for my next install I'm using 0 gauge welding wire all around

No it didn't. At least not when I got it.
