I am in the market for a 95+ Exlporer LTD. I am wondering what I should look out for when I look at one.

The other day I went to see a 95 LTD and it looked pretty clean. It was white/grey leather with 187K kilometers (not miles). The fog lights were not working and he showed me that the bulbs were broken, the rear passsenger door handle (which paint is shipping off) needs to be lifted higher than the rest inorder to open the door (I assume that there was an accident on that side of the car), and there is some rust under the car (nothing too major, seems to be common with other Explorers). The engine seems to be running smoothly (I dont know what I shold be looking for under hood). He is asking $9900 CDN but I think he is willing to go down to $9500.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

make sure to have an independent mechanic check it out before you buy. Do you happen to know the previous owner? As a rule try and get as much info as you can on it.

I would really check to see if it was in a wreck or not.

Yup after my accident many things were misaligned, thats a key sign that it has been in an accident, because its hard to fully fix many of the things that get misaligned after an accident
