My 97 4.0 sohc V6 is getting replaced with the same size engine and I want to try to cover all my bases and hope someone can tell me what parts I should replace on the scrapyard engine ($800) we are putting in? I just recently bought this 97 EB Exp for $800 the mechanic told me the dr side timing tensioner and guides needed replaced and after my mechanic tore it down the main timing chain guides (cheap plastic) were shot also. So we decided to look around and replace the engine.
The engine that was in there was put in in 2004 with a complete rebuild and the owner towed a big 32 foot travel trailer with it back and forth from Yuma AZ to Iowa for the next 4 years until it broke down on him again. He had a generator sitting in the back seat and hard wired into the truck so he would have continuous power for the trailer.
To make a long story short he was really hard on this vehicle and I would like to bring it back from the dead and hopefully have a decent SUV. I really like this site and I have learned alot from the great post on here and now I would like to try and apply some of this to my Exp. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
