2000 4.0L Ranger does not have EGR.

Are we sure? they sold me one...looks like a flying saucer bout 2inch in diameter and then nipple on top. 2 bolt holes..and threaded inlet

I looked it up in the Ford factory 2000 Ranger wiring manual. 2.5L and 3.0L have EGR but the 4.0L does not an EGR system at all.

Some have it, others don't. It just depends on whether it is necessary to meet NOx standards for that year/model/engine.

WHat could cause my truck to idle to high and to low then? check engine light is on..says 2 o2 sensors that i just replaced are bad....cat converter is fine too...

First, I would look for a manifold vacuum leak or an unmetered air leak in the intake tube. Other possibilities might be a dirty MAF sensor, dirty injectors, low fuel pressure.

O2 sensor related codes don't necessarily mean that the sensors are bad. Could be a mixture problem that the O2's are reporting to the PCM.
