96 Ford Explorer XLT
Hello, I have a 96 ford explorer xlt, im installing a new cd deck and subs. I have been told by almost everyone to bypass the factory amp (which makes sense) but when I ask how I get 20 different answers all of which do not make any sense. The amp is NON-JBL the factory head unit was a tape deck (don't know if that helps) In the dash it has a black square clip and a grey rectangle clip. I have the power harness set up and my deck lights up and works, I have no idea what wires are speaker wires, so no sound yet, now I am trying to bypass the factory amp, ive been told there are harnesses for this where i do not have to splice anything. I have been unable to locate this harness. I wouldn't mind splicing if i knew exactly what to splice into. Will someone please help? Also please keep posts relivant to topic..I am in need of answers please help.

Ok so i've done some of my own research, a professional installer told me i do not need to bypass the factory amp insted you will need a harness from scosche. There are two different models of this harness, one is for 96 explorer JBL, and the other is for 96 Explorer Premium Sound. FOR PREMIUM SOUND AMPS YOU WILL NEED "Scosche 88-97 FORD Car Stereo Connector" MODEL NUMBER "FDK-106"

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY IF YOU WISH TO INTERGRATE YOUR AFTER-MARKET DECK WITH FACTORY AMP. ALSO YOU MUST TURN YOUR SUB AMP UP FOR THIS TO SOUND GOOD.
