2003 Limited
Hi. I prchased a 2003 Explorer Limited for 4 grand because of a few issues it has. It has an airbag code 42. I bought the sensor from Ford but am unable to find where it is located on the truck. I followed the advice of one member and checked behind the drivers side B pillar (between driver and 2nd row) but the sensor there does not match up with the part I have.
I would assume it was in the front somewhere but can't see it. Any help would be appriciated.

How did you make out with this? I have a code 42 on my wifes 05.

I just started to get this code too.
Last week the seat belt warning light came on beeped at me. I had my belt on and it was buckled securely. I shut the truck off and restarted it never came back on. Now I am getting the 4-2 LFC with no DTC set. Iwould have thought a DTC would be active. Anyways any solutions/ideas?

I fixed the issue quite some time ago. I bought an impact sensor from Ford (about 90Cdn.) It is located at the front of the truck in the lower grille. It is tucked up under the long plastic clip. It is held on by two bolts which are probably rusted. One of my wires was corroded quite bad so I replaced the sensor, and part of the wire. It has not been an issue since.

Thanks. Will check it out.

I found the sensor and one of the pins was corroded. I was able to clean it with electrical contact cleaner and then applied a dab of electrical grease. Reassembled and not light. Thanks for the help!!

I have a explorer 2006 Basic Model As we have just one in Kuwait. I met a accident and my passenger door got almost finished, since the passenger seat was empty the airbag did not open but ever since there is a light on and i dont see any codes , It starts after i start the car and stays that way, To repair the car i had to remove the seat , but the light has come back after the fitting. can any one help and how can i know the codes or anything since i dont see anything but the airbag light lit

the airbag light will remain lit because the airbag computer sees that the sensor is has detected a impact of significant force, the only way to fix this would probally be to take it to a ford dealer.

JP450- Do you have to remove the grille to get at the front crash sensor?
I can't locate it from underneath the vehicle.

There is no need to remove the grille. If you lay down and look up through your lower grille, you will see the sensor under the plastic trim in the center of that grille. .
