Problem with my 2003 Explorer. Airbag code 42.

I have a 2003 ford explorer and I am getting the airbag code 42 on my dash. I went on vac. a month ago and was changing some fuses and I did the wrong one. So now whenever I start the truck the code "42" comes on. Can anyone help me, and tell me what it means. And maybe how to fix it. Thanks Mike

42 = LH Primary Crash Sensor Feed/Return Circuit Open.

My 02 had a flashing 42, but when I looked mine up it said "front" crash sensor fault. IT is mounted behind the front bumper. accessed it through the holes by the front license plate. Removed it and the sensor was pretty much in two pieces. The sensor is mounted to a 90 degree bracket. the sensor is mounted to the bracket with a stud on the bracket. the stud corroded and cracked the sesnor in two pieces. Also one of the pins came out when I unplugged the sensor. Bought a new sensor for $80. 20 min. to remove and replace. No more light. I wish I would have taken some pictures.

It's a good idea to disconnect the battery, and wait about 10 minutes before you work on any part of the air bag system.

OK I was hoping this would help, I have looked everywhere for this stupid sensor. My 2003 XLS explorer has started blinking a 4-2 code. I was hoping to take a look and clean if not replace the sensor but I cannot find it. I pulled off the covers on the sides of the lic. plate, nothing there. I looked at the verticle support for the radiator and nothing at least that I see. Anyone have a better description or even a picture? I'm not totally mechanically useless but I feel that way right now.

Never mind murphy's law, as son as I ask it jumps out at me. Cleaning it didn't work at all so I will be stopping out to the dealer for the new sensor. Fingers crossed.
