Help with check engine light

Ok I need some ideas, I have renewed the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, the cct, new hall sensors and shift motor, the car is now running perfect, but I have the engine check light come on, it never had this come on before,was just running poorly so, i reset it by disconecting the battery and went for a drive of about 20 miles and all was fine, the next day I start up my truck and witchin a few seconds my check engine light comes on? The truck still runs fine though, am I meant to drive more miles after a reset or does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing the light to come on? Dave.

Without knowing what the code or codes are it is impossible to help you diagnose the issue. It may be completely unrelated to the work you have done. Post up the codes that have been set and we can go from there.

Double check all the vac lines around the manifold and the ones underneath it on either side and the pcv pipe at the back

The vac lines all look ok but to be honest I've only had a quick look because it's been a bit too wet out to work, I just think it's a little odd as I can clear the check light and go for a drive and it's all fine, it's only when I start the car the next day that the light comes on, i had ordered a obd2 code reader so when that gets here Ill hook it up and pull the codes and the most likely be back on here asking for help

So I have a p0118 code engine coolant temp circuit high input, hmmm I'm not really sure what I could have done, or maybe it's just time this failed, I reset the fault without starting the car and it took a few seconds to come on again, any ideas what to check first before I start replacing parts?

Did you disturb the temp sensor wires when you did the upper/lower gaskets? I would try unplugging and clean the connectors then plug it all back and see if that helps.

Looking at the temp sensor and all looked fine but took your advise and went to unplug it to give it a clean and it's in two parts! Snapped just under the connector and was just sitting on top, that'll put the engine light on! Ok so before I start looking up part numbers, do you know the part number for the sensor and/or best place to buy the sensor in uk?

There are two sensors one for the gauge and one for the ecu. Not sure of the part numbers but you could try www.usautomotive.co.uk 01234 273155 or www.ebay.co.uk

Yeah I see there was two, the temp gauge in the dash is reading fine and shows the needle in the middle of the gauge when warmed up so must be the other one, think it goes to the ecu or something, but that's the one I want. Did check eBay but the part number I did find is for a USA part so that site you linked will come in very handy, thank you. Dave.
