I got 2 MTX thunder4000 12 inch subs yesterday... now I want a box that takes up the least room possible... what can i get? and Im trying to keep the cost low. I also need an amp, what would be the best? I am thinking of only putting in 1 of the 12s... i dont know yet though. Also, it appears the guy before me with my car had a system, and he left the wiring... a friend said the wiring was too small... how can I tell?

if there was a system, you should have a smallish remote wire, a dark or silver ground wire, and a bright or blue power wire, and a couple of RCA's, on the power or ground wire it should say what size it is, if it doesnt take a pair of crimpers and "size it up" the size of the wiring depends on the size of the amp.

If space is an issue, get a sealed box for 1 or 2 - 12"s

try walmart. They have single and dual 12" sealed boxes. box is already wired and holes are predrilled. just pop in your sub. even comes with a grill. box has polyfill in it which increases air space. I have a single and it sounds pretty good. very convinient. try it out, if you don't like it just return it.

If you want to keep cost down I would recommend picking up a Q-logic box. They make single and dual. Make sure your sub's airspace is compatible with whatever box you use.

The best kind of amps for subs are Class D. Alpine, Audiobahn, Autotek, Cadence, Lanzar Optidrive to name a few are very good.

Walmart box's are a no no

I just went and bought a box from Walmart a few weeks ago and i can't stand it. I lost all kinds of bass. not power but the box is just too small for the sub. I have a 10" sealed box, and Rockford in it. and it sounds like s*#$. spend the time and make your own (If you can and have the means), you'll be happier with the sound (just make the box to the specs of the sub) and you'll be happier that you did it your self.

BTW: Just and FYI. I had the sub in another box before this one and it sounded great.
