I just recently had to get a new sending unit put on my '92 because it was rusted through and now my gas mileage it horrible. I've only had my X for about 2 months or so. When I first got it I was getting 17-18 mpg and now I'm lucky to get 14 at the most. I knew it was something to do with the tank or something when I could smell gas a the time and then it got rejected for inspection because of the sending unit. So it got replaced and now my gas mileage sucks. I did search for some related topics but couldn't find anything useful. Anything suggestions or anything at all would be helpful.

Thanks

Are you getting a check engine light?

Rusted sending unit?

Is this the entire fuel pump/tank level assembly? Are there any driveability problems. I have some suspecions, but you could try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes to reset the computer and see what change that makes. I think you will still have a "problem" but that will give us a clue.

Change the fuel filter also, it could be all pluged up with rust particles and other junk.

I'm not getting the check engine light or any other problems while driving. I try disconnecting the battery changing the fuel fliter and see what happens. I'll let you know.

Thanks
