I have a 98 Explorer and i am having a ton of trouble with my lights. As you all know, its a pain in the butt to replace them as it is, but i cant seem to get the little black ring to lock the lights into place. So i try and just squeeze it in there and it either falls out while driving or bounces around and blows. Also, i noticed that my highbeam light is on the dash is on, not real bright, but bright enough to see at night. Any ideas? I think when you have a bulb burnt out then it comes on, but all my bulbs are working, just not latched in the housing like they should be. Im about to go to Ford and pay them to do it cause im tired of screwing with it.

You TURN the lock ring once it is in the socket....it snaps tight....

had the very same prob with my 94 and the high beam light did u replace the light sockets? cause i did on mine and i wired it wrong the first time (cause i have the wig wag head lights and there are more wires on one side then the other so i mixed up the 2 so i saw the high beam light come on and i went back double checked the wiring and found i had a ground to the neg and a neg to the ground ( head light still worked but not as bright) so thats all i can think of is a crossed wire good luck

no, i havent messed with any wiring. I know to turn the lock, but i just cant seem to snap it on. Like i said, im about to just go to the dealer and fork out the money
