Hoping to get some help with a scuff on my dash... got an Explorer ST last month. There was a white line on the dash, which I didn’t think anything about until I tried to wipe it off (with a wet microfiber cloth, no chemicals). Anyway, wiping it makes it WORSE! I’m trying to get someone from the local Ford dealer to call me back and advise before I use something Iike Aerospace 303. It’s almost like the black dye is just giving out.

I hate nitpicking over something like this, but when you buy a $60k vehicle you’d expect not to have issues like this on a dashboard just from water and a cloth.

Anyway, while I try to get someone from Ford to call me back, can anyone tell if this might be a simple fix with the right cleaner/protectant?

If it was mine I would make an appointment with service and have them check it.

Wiping with a dry microfiber or any cloth will only make it worse. The easiest way to probably fix this is use one of the high quality Trim Restorer. There are some really good brands out there including Turtle Wax which makes those. But if you do Not want to spend since your vehicle is still under Warranty, then the detail department at the service center which does vehicle detailing should be able to take care of it.

But if you have one Trim Restorer handy in your garage, it will help in the future as well when your outside trim parts like the wheel well plastic cover etc. gets faded.

I get scuffs on the lower driver's door panel from my watch every time I push the seat controls on the bottom of the driver's seat. I also get scuffs from my shoes hitting the plastic door jam and door panel which is normal. Maybe the lower grade plastics used in this Explorer make scuffing more noticeable and permanent.

Unfortunately it is too late now but every customer has a week to point out any appearance issue to the dealer to have them fixed.
From your Warranty Guide;
"................................. If you see any damage when you receive your vehicle, notify your dealership within one week."

Yeah, I was thinking it might lead to that if the service advisor didn't have a quick suggestion. Though I'm about to give up trying to contact him and just make the appt.

Didn't know that, thanks! It was a wet cloth, but I'm getting same end result. Hope it's as easy of a fix as that.

Those don't bug me as much, but that one on the dash is driving me nuts every time I glance over at it.

I really hope that doesn't mean I'm SOL if there's no easy fix. Though at the time it was just the white line, so I was wondering if there's actually something wrong with the dash since wiping it makes it worse. As far as the first week goes, irony is I didn't even have my ST for half a week before it was in the detail shop... There was a dent on the passenger side with chipped paint, and factory damage on the driver door, both of which were identified before the sale. Unfortunately it was the only ST configured the way I wanted in the area. So I had it for 3 days, then it was in the shop for 3 weeks. The dash was an afterthought at the time, because it just looked like something that should wipe off.

i had something similar on mine (the mark on the dash not the fender) and the dealer detailing shop took care of it in 20 minutes while i waited... Good luck and hope you have the same experience.
