this is my first time writing a forum so sorry if this is long, so starting from the beginning I have a 2017 Ford PIU and had the water pump/time chain/guides(the whole nine yards done in Dec of 2023 by Ford) after a few months on cold starts you can hear this raddle/along with a slight tapping from the top of the engine (after research and some diag found to be phaser raddle) but the tapping I was unsure of. so I did the cam phasers and put in a high-volume oil pump(primed the pump)and new cam solenoids. everything went smoothly until start when the tap got louder (waited for the oil to circulate) and the tap remained only slightly louder(the noise sounded like it was coming from the LH cam phasers area which I thought was the secondary timing chain tensioner) but with the job being done by Ford and that being a part that was replaced I brought it back the dealer and they did dome diag and said that the camshaft was "pitted" yet I had pits of the cams and looked at them intently before I sealed the engine. I brought up the tensioner and the service manager said that he would redo the job since Ford was going to pay for it and I asked him to take pictures of said pitting during the job. when I picked up the car he showed me the pics and pointed to the edges where there was no pitting and looked to have wear (only slight wear) and wanted to replace the engine. the few ideas that I have b4 going that way is seeing if the camshaft shifted and adjusting the cam to counteract it or if you can replace the camshaft and valve tappets, sorry for the long post but any help is welcomed and I will respond to any questions as soon as I can( o2 sensors is fixed pug was loose tick was there b4 dtcs)
