- 2008 Explorer XLT
I bought the cross rails for the roof rack for my 2008 Explorer. Picked them up yesterday and installed them last night. Followed the directions to the letter, or should I say picture. Went to put the 'caps' back on the rails that run the length of the vehicle and, for the life of me, can't get them to snap back into place. Is there a trick to accomplishing this? I mean, I inspected both and there isn't any kind of damage to the cap or the 'post' that, I assume, they're supposed to snap onto. I tried everything I could think of. Looked at the directions and reversed how I got them off. Nothing seems to be working.
Has anyone had any experience with these and can give me some tips? I hate to take it to the dealer and have one of their guys do it for me, but if I can't get this fixed this evening, that's what's going to have to happen. Why they couldn't just put some sort of screw in it, I don't know.
