Hello fellow explorer owners. I will be purchasing my first explorer this week, but not my first ford. Im a long time mustang owner, and needed something comfortable for work, and something that is a truck, and a friend of mine is selling a nice 91 XLT eddie bauer, so im going to be grabbing it later this week. Anything I should watch out for with these? It has 180,000kms, never been used for towing, the tranny is fine, runs fine, etc. had some front end bushings changed, cant remember what he said they were.

Welcome and greetings to Canada from the other side of the ball!

My '91 Eddie Bauer did well for 189.000kms before the speed governor gave up and needed to be replaced. I had a complete tranny-overhaul done which cost me a fotrune (around US$3000.00). Meanwhile I'm sure that the transmission-fluid hasn't been changed until then.

So if you don't have any info or records on when a fluid and filter change was done on your Explorer, you might want to invest a few bucks just to be on the safe side...

Have fun with your Explorer!

yeah i plan on changing the tranny fluid if it hasnt been done in a while. any particular kind the auto tranny likes? also, is it possible to swap in a newer, stronger auto behind the OHV? also, any links for high performance mustang 302 swaps into an explorer?
