as for the moldings, i just peeled em off and removed the residue underneath with mineral spirits. removing those moldings and the pinstripe really makes a difference.
it is possible that it is... my truck had been repainted crappily earlier in its life and when i removed mine it looked like crap (they hadn't removed them when they repainted it) so i got those graphics to cover up the problem with the paint, then before that second pic i repainted.

i searched side moldings, and side molding removal and found a few threads that would help you. do the same if you want (i'm just too lazy to post the directions here)
