- 2003 Ford Explorer
First off, I was getting jealous of all the forums for Wrangler fans, about time I stumbled upon a website for us Explorer owners!
To give a general overview this is my issue right now.
1. 2003 Ford Explorer had after market radio (Sony CDX-GT520 put in about 2007/8. Here, Circuit City (curse their dead souls), assembled the harness but did not hook up the subwoofer. I was without the factory subwoofer for two years.
2. In 2010, I finally took my 2003 to Best Buy to have them fix it. I don't remember specifics but it had something to do with a harness issue. After this there would always be a "pop" when I would turn the car on.
3. Last week I removed the Sony aftermarket radio, and installed an Alpine CDE-124SXM2 so I could integrate the XM radio into the radio unit itself. I assembled the harness, etc. and made sure to plug the red RCA adapter into the Subwoofer slot.
4. After the complete setup, everything works flawlessly-- that is except the factory subwoofer.
5. What should I do? I don't want to take it to Best Buy because that'll just be a waste of money if it's something I could do on my own.
tl;dr: Subwoofer works sporadically over the years, finally stops working after I install a new radio.
Thanks guys.
