I would appreciate those who have experience or opinions about hi amp aftermarket alternators to discuss the pros and cons, different vendors, who's the best, prices, etc. I'm in the market for one and would like to learn more about them. I'm interested in the 140-200 amp range, I think.

Also, any links would also be a big help. Thanks.

I've got a 200amp in mine and combined with an optima I've never once had a problem. I've had just about everything turned on at once and only saw a slight "dip" on the power of the lights. What are you going to use it for though??? For sterios and winches they are a must, but for everyday use though they may be an overkill.

Check out this link for an idea of the prices....

My intended use for the alternator is for a hi amp electric radiator fan on a custom 302 V8 motor and auxillary lighting, i.e., a number of PIAA lights. An electric winch is a possibility down the road.

Thanks for the Mr. Alternator site, that is helpful.
