Happened up on the forum while trying to find detailed instructions for replacement of the front hubs on my wife's 2006 XLT. What a great site.
Currently on our 3rd Explorer. Previously had a 91 and an 02. Wife wore the 91 out and her 02 was hit headon by a pickup that hydroplaned across the highway. As a testament to the construction of the Explorer, her only injuries were burns on her forearm from the airbag. I'll probably do more reading
than posting, but look forward to learning a lot here.

Even though this write-up is for 2002-2005 Explorers, the process for your 2006 is virtually the same to replace the front hub/bearing assembly:

Read through the entire thread and see what others on there have contributed. It's not too difficult of a repair/replacement assuming you have the proper workspace and tools for the job. If you scroll down to post#16 & #17 you can see my contributions to the thread with some additional pictures from my replacement of the front hubs on my 3rd Generation Explorer.
