I am a newby here so a littla about me. I graduated from Northwestern Auto -Diesel College in Lima, Ohio in 1980. Went to work for the local Ford dealership here in Marlinton WV out of school . I worked just about every job in the dealership from parts sales to parts and service manager. I certified in Electronics , Automatic transmissions and Electronic engin controls mainly.
I stayed with the dealership intill it closed in 1993. After that I went to a local parts store and helped establish a shopin the store and changed over to a Western Auto store . I worked there untill 2003 with all the problems with sears and western auto he closed his shop. I guess I got lasy now I am a 911 Dispatcher and the T A C for the W E A P O N S systen for our county.
I just picked up a 1991 Explorer at a county auction. It had been pretty trashed inside , more or less dirty and broken trim missing sun roof and 179000 miles on it. It started and ran fine no smoke but the tranny is trashed . I know there are a lot of problems with the A4LD tranny and was surfin the web for some ideas when i found this forum and thought it would be verry informative. I have picked up a used a4ld as the old one was not repairable from a cost point of view and have started trying to put things back in orded.
I wanted to give this a allover (real tree) camo job as it will be mostly a hunting and badweather vehicle but the wife doesn.t like that idea, lol
I may get by with a body lift and some desant tires though. Jeff
