I just wandered over here for the first time from the engine forum, and since my x is definitely a sport truck I thought maybe you could help. I want to lower the truck as much as possible without messing up handling. Is the x express kit the way to go? Or should I try to get hte blocks and u bolts somewhere else and do it for cheap. also I am trying to get a little more power and with my mods 3 inch exhaust, fipk, power programer 3, i thought maybe I should go with underdrive pulleys and a new mass air sensor. theres a granatelli 70 mm and a 70mm one in explorer express for cheaper by about 70 dollars. does anyone know who manufactures that one. would the performance be the same between the two. are those mods a good place to go next with my x. feedback will be helpful.

I'm looking to lower mine too so I dunno what to tell you there....I'm just wondering if you have any pics. It sounds like you have a sweet truck.

Mine is lowered and my wife's will be next weekend. I used the Explorer Express kitt for mine but I'm going to just get blocks and u-bolts for hers.

It's really so simple and just takes a few phone calls to find 1 1/2" blocks and u-bolts. There are a bunch of threads on here, including my first one "Cheap way to lower" that you can find all the instructions you need. If you have any questions just e-mail.

Just make sure to get an alignment when you're done.

Good luck.

the explorer expres stuff is really nice. i would go with the biggest mass air they sell like a 75, 77 ,80 for your truck and the only company i would use is pro-m or granitellie which are the same.

thanks guys I'll try to locate some blocks and u bolts down here in phoenix and get it done. I think I'll buy some new shocks with the money I saved and some of my recall tire money. Which shocks work well on the 13/4 lowered x

I haven't had any experience but I know Edelbrock makes some Performer IAS shocks specifically for an explorer that's lowered 1 3/4". They are expensive though.

Ive got Monroe Reflexes on my X and they are awesome. From what I've read they are very similar to the Edelbrocks just cheaper. However, Cdexplorer is right, Explorer Express has some Edlebrocks which are specifically valved for a lowered X. Never tried 'em.

I just know the Monroe's are great.

If you find some pulleys thta work, let me know. So far all I've found is the JET pullies and they don't fit!
