Hi I'm New & I am dissapointed, Explorer 03

Hello everyone

I am from central america and I bought an Explorer XLT 2003 in october (on Ebay), I did not know about their transmission problems, I pick it up and the OD light turn on, the seller says it is nothing and I believed him. Later the check engine turn on and I guessed it was nothing serious. When the car arrives to my country I drived it and everything ok, but last week the engine lose power (like if all the horses died) so, a friend of mine check it and he says that it is the transmission. Next week the ford dealer here is going to check it but reading on internet I see that the transmission must be bad ( it is only 70 000 miles), so finally a I am dissapointed, i should buy a Mitsubishi or a Toyota.
Now I don't know what to do, I guess the transmission must be so expensive (if it is expensive in the USA, how much could it cost here), some friend in the USA recomended me powertransfactory.com, are they good? it is cheaper just $1500.

I will wait for the ford answer, but I'm adjusting my money to buy another transmission.

Sorry about the trouble you are having.. Anytime you buy a used 4yr+ old vehicle you need to research it. When you saw the OD light and later the Check engine light come on you should have been very suspicious of the vehicle's condition.

Oye, compai, guarde su camioneta Explorer. Sabe, cada vehiculo tiene sus problems. La Ex no es perfecta, pero se puede decir que su compra, no le fue bien. El problema no es la camioneta, sino hay que hablar con el consesionario o vendedor, sabe? Con respecto al sitio web que usted nos presento, la verdad es que yo no se nada se trata de esa compania... Asi que, haga lo necesario para guardar su Ex, y deje que las otras camionetas se queden sin duenos

Otra cosita mas, en este momento usted no sabe cual es el problema, correcto? Entonces, calmese por favor, y sabra... pero hable tabien con Ebay. Cuales su pais? De donde vino el auto?

I'm pretty pleased with the 1.5" lift, so I put that there as an avatar until the lift was finished... I want to put another Ex pic up lifted, but it's raining off and on, vehicle is too dirty to show. So, coil springs for now

Thanks for all the answer, I was dissapointed because I did not expect to the transmission failed so soon but well, it's not a new car. I know it was my mistake about the OD and check engine lights thing, but I used to have an Aerostar that turn the light on and never have a problem. I'll wait for the Ford diagnosis.

I would like to know, about to buy a rebuilt transmission; its a good a idea?, I would rather to buy a new one from Ford but it is expensive and I have to pay the shipping and taxes (near 40%). Any brand do you recomend me? Like i said before a friend told me about power trans factory.

Also this transmission must be the 5R55W, right? (Explorer 2003, V6 4.0L)

This is nice car, comfortable and I just want to enjoy it.

Yeah. I will write him but I am pretty sure he will do nothing, he is a liar, he said about the O/D that they changed a sensor so the light could be flickering for 24 hours, enough time to avoid my return, the worse thing is that I wrote a good feedback.
